Prayer of thanksgiving
Blessed are you, Sovereign God, king of the nations, to you be praise and glory forever. From the rising of the sun to its setting, your name is proclaimed in all the world. As the Sun of Righteousness dawns in our hearts, anoint our lips with the seal of your Spirit that we may witness to your gospel and sing your praise in all the earth.

Then God said, “No, but your wife Sarah will bear you a son, and you will call his name Isaac. I will establish My covenant with him as an everlasting covenant and with his descendants after him. As for Ishmael, I have heard you; behold. I have blessed him, and will make him fruitful and will multiply him exceedingly. He will be the father of twelve princes, and I will make him a great nation. Matthew 27:1-10
When the morning came, all the chief priests and elders of the people took counsel against Jesus to put Him to death. When they had bound Him, they led Him away and handed Him over to Pontius Pilate the governor.
When Judas, who had betrayed Him, saw that He was condemned, he repented and brought back the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and elders, saying, “I have sinned in that I have betrayed innocent blood.”
They said, “What is that to us? You must see to that.”
So he threw down the pieces of silver in the temple and departed. And he went and hanged himself.
The chief priests took the pieces of silver and said, “It is not lawful to put them into the treasury, because this is the price of blood.” So they took counsel, and bought with them the potter’s field to bury strangers in. Therefore that field has been called the Field of Blood to this day. Then what was spoken by Jeremiah the prophet was fulfilled: “They took the thirty pieces of silver, the price of Him on whom a value had been set by some of the Israelites, and they gave them for the potter’s field, as the Lord commanded me.”

Abram listened to Sarai. So after Abram had been living for ten years in the land of Canaan, Sarai, his wife, took Hagar her maid, the Egyptian, and gave her to her husband Abram to be his wife. He went in to Hagar, and she conceived.
When she saw that she had conceived, she began to despise her mistress. Then Sarai said to Abram, “May the wrong done to me be on you! I gave my maid into your arms; and when she saw that she had conceived, I became despised in her eyes. May the LORD judge between you and me.”
But Abram said to Sarai, “Behold, your maid is in your power; do to her as you please.” Then Sarai dealt harshly with her, and she fled from her presence.
The angel of the LORD found her by a spring of water in the wilderness. It was the spring on the way to Shur. And he said, “Hagar, Sarai’s maid, where have you come from and where are you going?”
And she said, “I am fleeing from the presence of my mistress Sarai.”
Then the angel of the LORD said to her, “Return to your mistress, and submit yourself to her authority.” The angel of the LORD also said to her, “I will multiply your descendants exceedingly so that they will be too many to count.”

“Behold, you are pregnant
and will bear a son.
You shall call his name Ishmael,
because the LORD has heard your affliction.
He will be a wild man;

Then she called the name of the LORD who spoke to her, “You are the God who sees,” for she said, “Have I now looked on Him who sees me?” Therefore the well was called Beer Lahai Roi. It is between Kadesh and Bered.
So Hagar bore Abram a son, and Abram called the son she bore Ishmael. Abram was eighty-six years old when Hagar bore Ishmael to Abram.

Those who had seized Jesus led Him away to Caiaphas the high priest, where the scribes and the elders had assembled. But Peter followed Him from afar to the high priest’s courtyard and went in, and sat with the servants to see the end.
The chief priests and the elders and the entire Sanhedrin searched for false witness against Jesus to put Him to death, but they found none. Yes, though many false witnesses came forward, they found none.
At last two false witnesses came forward and said, “This fellow said, ‘I am able to destroy the temple of God and to build it in three days.’ ”
Then the high priest stood up and said to Him, “Do You answer nothing? What is it these men testify against You?” But Jesus remained silent.
The high priest said to Him, “I adjure You by the living God, tell us whether You are the Christ, the Son of God.”
Jesus said to him, “You have said so. But I say to you, hereafter you will see the Son of Man seated at the right hand of Power and coming on the clouds of heaven.”
Then the high priest tore his clothes, saying, “He has uttered blasphemy. What further need do we have for witnesses? See, now you have heard His blasphemy. What do you think?”
They answered, “He is guilty unto death.”
Then they spit in His face and struck Him. And others slapped Him with the palms of their hands, saying, “Prophesy to us, You Christ! Who is it that struck You?”
Now Peter sat outside in the courtyard. And a girl came to him, saying, “You also were with Jesus of Galilee.”
But he denied it before them all, saying, “I do not know what you are saying.”
Then when he went out onto the porch, another girl saw him and said to those who were there, “This man was also with Jesus of Nazareth.”
Again he denied with an oath, “I do not know the Man.”
After a while those who stood by came to Peter and said, “Surely you also are one of them, for your accent betrays you.”

And behold, the word of the LORD came to him, saying, “This man will not be your heir, but a son that is from your own body will be your heir.” He brought him outside and said, “Look up toward heaven and count the stars, if you are able to count them.” And He said to him, “So will your descendants be.”

But Abram said, “Lord GOD, how may I know that I will possess it?”

Then Abram brought all of these to Him and cut them in two and laid each piece opposite the other, but he did not cut the birds in half. When the birds of prey came down on the carcasses, Abram drove them away.
As the sun was going down, a deep sleep fell on Abram. And behold, horror and great darkness fell on him. Then He said to Abram, “Know for certain that your descendants will live as strangers in a land that is not theirs, and they will be enslaved and mistreated for four hundred years. But I will judge the nation that they serve, and afterward they will come out with great possessions. As for you, you will go to your fathers in peace and you will be buried at a good old age. In the fourth generation, your descendants will return here, for the iniquity of the Amorites is not yet complete.”
When the sun went down and it was dark, behold, a smoking fire pot with a flaming torch passed between these pieces. On that same day the LORD made a covenant with Abram, saying, “To your descendants I have given this land, from the river of Egypt to the great Euphrates River — the land of the Kenites, the Kenizzites, the Kadmonites, the Hittites, the Perizzites, the Rephaites, the Amorites, the Canaanites, the Girgashites, and the Jebusites.”

At that same moment Jesus said to the crowds, “Have you come out as against a thief to take Me with swords and clubs? Daily I sat with you in the temple teaching, and you did not seize Me. But all this was done that the Scriptures of the prophets might be fulfilled.” Then all the disciples forsook Him and fled.

Luke 1:68-79
Blessed be the Lord God of Israel,
for He has visited and redeemed His people,
and has raised up a horn of salvation for us

and from the hand of all who hate us,
